After a year of living in loungewear, I’m ready to get dressed and wear clothes that make me feel like ‘me’ again. My style is pared-back and minimal and I like a neutral colour palette of white, grey, camel, navy and black. However, I’m partial to breaking my rules with a colourful summer dress – which now feels more necessary than ever before. I want my clothes to work hard for me, so I always shop for wardrobe staples – classic pieces I’ll wear over and over again. With that in mind, here’s my edit of the best pieces to add to your re-entry wardrobe, from out-out looks to workwear that’ll help you go back to the office in style.
Describe your edit in three words
Timeless. Versatile. Chic.
The trend or piece you’re most excited about?
The classic summer dress. After months of tracksuits I can't wait to throw on a summer dress and sandals and be ready for the day, feeling suitably dressed up and put-together.
What’s the one event you can't wait to get dressed up for?
At this point everything is an occasion! Going to your local pub, sitting in a friend’s garden… I'm just excited about getting dressed up again and wearing clothes that make me feel good.
Your top styling/shopping tips?
When shopping think, 'could that piece be styled multiple ways?' For example, could you style a summer dress in winter with stomping boots and a chunky cardi? Or wear it to work with loafers and a blazer?
Shop pieces you know you'll love forever, timeless styles that aren't faddy one-wear items. I choose investment leather, smart tailoring, an a little black dress and a ditsy floral dress.
Shop pieces you feel comfortable in. When you're comfortable you feel way more confident, and it shows.
A wardrobe essential that everyone needs?
A good white t-shirt or vest top. They go with everything and are the foundation of any chic wardrobe.
The Statement Leather
Chocolate-coloured leather trousers are trending heavily right now. I think of leather trousers as an alternative to my jeans. This is the perfect 'out out' look, chic and understated.
The Slouchy Suit
Tailored suitsare perfect for occasion dressing. Try with monochrome accessories to keep the look super elegant. Add a slim-fit bodysuits or vest top underneath to keep this silhouette clean and modern.
A little black dress is a must-have in any wardrobe. Sleek midi styles are great all-rounders, perfect for work, or try dressing up with heels for an evening look.
The Summer Dress
Florals never go out of fashion, we call upon them year after year and they never date. This season hemlines are getting shorter so I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and try mini lengths too.
